I am Herfried Exl
…and have been doing astrophotography for about 20 years.
Before my retirement, I worked in the aviation sector.
Like most of my colleagues, I started with the Webcam photography of the moon and the planets. After some time, I switched to deep-sky astrophotography using a digital camera.
I modified a SONY Nex5 and made in conjunction with my first-class SW Newton 150/750mm f/5 first experience with deep sky photography.
Since summer 2021, I've been trying to take higher-quality astrophotography images with very good resolution. I place particular emphasis on quality rather than quantity.
For this I have the Takahashi Epsilon 160ED f/3.3 Newton and the mono Astrocam QHY268m with 7-part filter wheel.
That's why it's obvious that I particularly like to visit very dark astro locations at high altitudes.
In fact, I do this wonderful activity almost exclusively on the go in order to remain flexible.
