I am Herfried Exl and have been doing astrophotography for around 20 years. Before retirement, I worked professionally in the aviation sector.
Like most of my colleagues, I started with webcam photography of the moon and the planets. After a while I switched to deep sky astrophotography using a digital camera. I modified a SONY Nex5
and had my first experience with deep sky photography in conjunction with my first-class SW Newton 150/750mm f/5.
Since summer 2021 I have been trying to take higher quality astrophotographs with very good resolution. I attach particular importance to quality and not quantity.
For this I treated myself to the Takahashi Epsilon 160ED Newton and the Astrocam QHY268m with a 7-part filter wheel.
That's why it's obvious that I particularly like to visit very dark astro places at higher altitudes.
In general, I almost only do this wonderful activity on my mobile in order to remain flexible.
